Hand registrations
My domaining activities have been rather slow lately (yes still busy doing the blogging thing), but yesterday when I was searching for a name for a potential project I did something quite extreme! I hand registered a domain name!
Of course I am just joking, I am sure there are plenty of good names out there ready for registration. For my part it has been a while since my last hand registration though. Especially in times like these when, for many, the primary objective is to cut down on expenses the last thing you would want is a lot of low quality domains in your portfolio, doing nothing, costing you 8 bucks every year.
The Project
The project I was thinking about (just thinking, no action yet) should be a news channel/blog in the science, electronics, good to know… niches. I quickly browsed through my own domain portfolio and found some potential names mostly short, brandable types. The project itself was just in its infancy and I am not sure if I am ever gonna do anything about it, but I kept thinking up cool names for it. I wanted to include words like: knowledge, news, fyi (for your information), interesting, story, info or updated in the domain name.
The Inspiration
Yesterday morning I literally woke up with an idea, turned on my computer and went to Godaddy to check the availability for some names I must have dreamt about! My idea was to combining the word “knowledge” with other words in some kind of word play, like for an example replacing “no” with “kno”.
Result
The result was the domain name: Knowelty.com as a combination of “knowledge” and “novelty”. Both words perfect for this kind of project! Even though I am not sure if I am ever going to use it I did not have to hesitate buying that name, I thought it was good enough even as an investment.
What do you think, am I way off here or is knowelty.com a great catch? and are you ever hand registering domains names any longer?
Let me know!
