I seldom hand register domains because of their sheer quality. Usually when I hand register a domain I do it because of its development potential (lots of monthly searches vs. few competing sites in SEs). A few days ago I actually hand registered a few domains for parking though.
The domains were:
BMXCrank.com
QuadsATV.com
MTBWheels.com
According to the free Google keyword tool those domains have from 6600 till 12100 monthly exact searches in Google. That is not bad at all, and since they are all short in nature I suspect them to generate a few typeins as well making them well suited for domain parking.
I do not have time for domain development these days which is why I was searching the net for revenue generating parked domains. I was willing to pay the owner a fair price too, but my search ended up unsuccessful. It was then I tried finding something on my own and got really surprised to find those three domains.
According to Parked.com one of my domain parking choices my new acquirements are actually producing a little traffic after about 5 days, but are yet to produce a money making click (I am waiting impatiently :).
Yesterday I tried finding af few more gems and I ended up buying the domain:
HorrorcoreRap.com
My decision to buy this domain was based on the fact that the keyword, based on a hip hop music genre, was figuring in Google trends as one of the 40 most sought after search phrases a few days earlier. I hope the genre will grow and gain even more popularity, otherwise I fear this will become a bad investment..
How long did it take me finding those 4 domains?
I guess around 3-4 hours.
Will it be worth it?
That depends, if the domains pay for themselves (generating more than $8 per year) I would definitely say so. If not I would have to develop them in order to make them profitable, and in that case my answer would be no. I have other domains waiting to be developed and I have no desire to build that list anytime soon!
Here is another domain I found interesting, especially if you got the time to develop it:
MTBForks.com - 4400 exact monthly searches
It is available as of this moment, so first come first serve.
I am interested in hearing your opinions, do you ever hand register?
Is it worthwhile?
How many monthly exact searches do you think is enough in order to buy a domain based on that factor alone?
Great article on domain parking. This is my first visit on this site and got such worthy stuff. I would like to visit here constantly.
Its very difficult to find a reliable and good registration company for our domain name. But here i got this valuable solution of my problem. Thanks.
I’ve had my domain registered with 123-reg on the basis that I heard they’re good. BT on the other hand are offering me free hosting for 1 year on, what seems like, quite a good package. Apparently, according to BT, they need the domain transfering to them [BT] as part of this. This is free and 123 not BT will not charge me for this. But just how do I do it?
I go on holiday on Thursday is there anything i can do from now till then to get a flatter stomach. I’ve lost over a stone in weight and am looking loads slimmer than last year, but would like some toning tips, or perhaps a detox plan to give me a flatter tummy, thanks in advance
I keep hearing that “all the good domain names are already taken” and that there is nothing left to hand reg.
Not so. There are still plenty of 2 and 3-word generic keyword domain names available for registration out there. The trick is to find them.
I think these are some nice registrations I think they are so many great domains out there..good post thanks for sharing with us.
However with as little traffic as you have coming to the sites, you can not realistically expect to earn enough to cover renewals. There are a couple of great earning programs for parked domains–but you do need to have some traffic otherwise these methods are not even available to you. but this post is really awesome, thanks for sharing it.
These are really very great registration….I really admire with your work thanks…
What is the process of computer programming development using HTML?
Very useful registration…good post man thanks a lot..
Why does ICANN allow companies to sell domain names, and why doesn’t ICANN just allows people to register domain names from ICANN directly, instead of letting them buy them via yahoo or go-daddy?
Personally, I never use GoDaddy for hosting (they are my preferred registrar, though), but they are good if you are a novice.
