Value of 5 Digit Numeric .com domains (NNNNN.com)

Do you see a market for 5-digit numeric .com domains – beyond the “special” ones such as 88888.com, 700000.com, 12345.com and similar ones?
This week I have been exploring the 5-digit numeric .com domains (NNNNN.com). I did whois lookups on all 90,000 of the 5-digit numeric domains (10000.com to 99999.com, with no leading zero’s). I discovered that only 59 of those 90,000 domains were available for hand registration at the time. In other words, less than one out of every 1,000 were available to hand register during the week I was checking. I suppose one could make sales by praising the 5-digit numeric .com’s as being scarce (only 59 out of 90,000 NNNNN.com were available for hand registration this week). And perhaps one could say that they are hard to find at a reasonable price and their value is increasing due to scarcity – but I don’t know if that is really true.
I looked at the auction sites and I noticed a wide range of asking-prices for 5-digit numeric .com’s, even for those that looked “nothing special” to me (5 digits, all different, randomly selected).

The wikipedia article goes into great detail about what digits are desirable and what digits are undesirable, and why – as seen by many Chinese, Korean, and Japanese people. Because many numeric domains are purchased by Chinese, Korean, and Japanese people, it makes sense to learn about what they do want and what they don’t want in a numeric domain.
Solid Namer: Thanks Atufo for the info and the links, I did not know any of them and they are really informative. To be honest, I do not specialize much in numeric domains which makes your contribution here at solidnamer.com even more valuable. We can all learn from each other and you obviously know more about 5 digit numerics than I do. It looks really interesting though, with the very limited combinations of 5 digit numeric .coms, how about zip codes in the US are they composed of 5 digits? If so it definately adds significant value to 5 digit .coms.
edit: Zip codes can be composed by 5 numbers in both the US and Europe

Now it makes sense. I know why chinese webmasters use numbers in their domain. I bought a dropped domain and it had a number 6 in it. Right now reading the articles you linked to I discovered that number 6 represent good business.
