Yesterday I talked about domain parking and as I mentioned parking your domains can be a good thing providing that the name already generates some traffic, but what about those that don’t?
If a domain does not already receive just a bit of traffic, then parking it would most likely be a waste of time/money. The search engines would not be able to find any content on the site and thereby not have any reason to send traffic. However, there exists alternatives and Whypark is one of them. Whypark is not a real parking service or at least not the classic example. Like other parking companies it creates web pages for your domains in seconds, but the difference is that it also includes relevant content on the sites mixed with the paid ads. That way search engines have something to actually read on your sites and they will start sending you targeted traffic. Whypark has a large resource of articles which they present on your pages, and every time a you visit a given page you will find different articles on it. That gives your visitors a reason to return which further increases your domain traffic and income potential. The only problem with this model is that you cannot avoid duplicate content which search engines dislike, but Whypark’s source of articles are so big that it really is not that big of a problem. Your sites will generate traffic and eventually start producing money.
This is why Whypark is my preferred parking provider. Also I invest mostly in brandable domains, those types of names normally contain no keywords nor any type-in traffic. So unless you start promoting or developing them they rarely generates any traffic, for that purpose Whypark is the perfect solution. Furthermore it is possible to add content to you pages in Whypark, which is normally not possible in other parking services. That way can personally improve its pagerank, relevancy and stimulate incoming traffic. In Whypark you are also allowed to market your domain to boost the incoming traffic.
If you own a keyword rich domain with existing traffic you would probably be better off, in the short run, to park it elsewhere though. Whypark does not convert as well as many other companies, but its traffic improvement compensates for that. The likeliness of a visitor clicking an ad is greater when the page ONLY contains ads which is why other parking services often have a better conversion, but it decreases the value of the domain and eventually the traffic will fade out. If you possess domains with existing traffic and prefer exploiting the traffic most efficiently in the short run I recommend Sedo, they are the largest parking company and are very easy to use. They also offer a domain market place which increases your chances of selling your domain. After about a month or two I would again shift to another parking provider like Parked and see if they did better. Domains do differently at different providers so you have to experiment with every single domain and compare stats. After having tested a few services move your domain back to the best performing one and let it optimize there until you either sell or develop it or maybe, if not profitable, drop it.
